Honor Guard

Mission Statement

The DeKalb County Police Honor Guard Unit is established to represent the Police Department at officer funerals and other ceremonial occasions.  It is their intention to assist all officers and their families during their time of need. The Honor Guard Unit will promote honor, professionalism and integrity through its image and conduct at all times by holding the department’s core values to the highest degree.  While performing, Unit members will stand sharp and crisp; motionless by choice, for they have voluntarily chosen to represent every member, past and present, of the DeKalb County Police Department.

Program Description

The DeKalb County Police Honor Guard Unit is established to assist with the handling of funerals for fallen officers both retired and currently employed. Additionally, the Honor Guard assists outside police agencies with funeral details when requested. 

The Honor Guard Unit is also called upon to represent the Department and the County with a multitude of special details such as the Washington DC National Police Week- Memorial Day Ceremony, grand openings, parades, graduations, sporting events, as well as a myriad of other requested ceremonial occasions when called upon.

Currently, the unit members consists of sixteen (16) team members.  Their efforts have received national recognition, in May 2007 they placed 4th at the National Color Guard Competition in Washington, D.C.
