911 Call Center

DeKalb County's new 911 Center officially went online and received its first call on Monday, July 16, 2007. This call signaled a "New Start, New Beginning" in the form of technology and efficiency for DeKalb County.  The upgrades include converting to a fully digital Motorola Astro 25 communications system.

The department's new state of the art facility located in the Police Headquarters building on West Exchange Place features hi-tech workstations, CAD and GIS software.

The E911 Center is manned by a rotating staff of over one hundred and thirty (130) dedicated employees, twenty–four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The Communication Center serves as the Public Safety Access Point for unincorporated DeKalb County as well as most of the cities located within the county.

The transition to the new 911 Center and CAD system is part of a three (3) year project.

The projected is being funded by 911 user fees. The revamped Call Center is a joint partnership between several vendors such as: AT&T, Interact Public Safety Systems, Motorola, ZETRON, Scicom Infrastructure Systems, SL King, DeKalb County Information Systems and the DeKalb County Police and Fire/Rescue Departments.

Phase II of the CAD software is expected to be completed in late 2007. The second phase will increase the functionality of the entire system.  The old Emergency 911 system will service as the backup center for DeKalb County.
